Custom Van Fitout.
The concept and genesis of VanLife DIY Fitouts was born out of necessity to create a simple, easy, and cost-effective option for anyone wanting to simplify life and inject more adventure and nature into their lives. We wanted to provide the ideal build process for people that wanted to build their own space, without all the mental and physical leg-work in the design process, AND without the requirement for prior skill and experience on the tools.
With the ever-evolving and growing van life movement, we are subsequently seeing more and more people than ever before, from all walks of life being exposed to the many and wildly different styles of van life living out there. This exposure has led to a diverse cross-section of our society taking steps to view life through the van life kaleidoscope, so they too can add more colour, spontaneity, and adventure into their lives.
As we watched the concept of Van Life DIY Fitouts evolve, we could feel how powerful an opportunity we had before us to be part of and further develop the movement. We believe this is due to the positive impact it has on the collective, personal relationships, and to the level we feel connected to nature.
We set out to translate these core principles of life into our customer experience, by providing a low-cost, simple, and high-quality product that delivers access to a deeper more fulfilled life.
The Ethos

The symbol above is the Sanskrit representation of the word ‘lila’ – which translates to “The play of Life.” It describes the play of creation, destruction, and re-creation, the folding and unfolding of the cosmos. Lila, free and deep, is both delight and enjoyment of this moment.
We think it’s a fitting ideal to underpin the Van Life ethos, not only the benchmark of a life worth aspiring for, but it’s also the name of our co-founder Dan’s very own van – the OG prototype that started it all.

The vision.
After experiencing the bliss firsthand of having our very own rolling vibe temple, we saw how powerful integrating some van life into your life can be. We started talking about it with family and friends, but more interesting was the amount of people that we met who were already in the process of buying a van or already had one. But… there was a common thread. Finding people that had a smooth, under-budget build that stuck to their expected timeline was as rare as rocking horse s#*t.
Common themes were either:
“I don’t know where to start.”
“I can’t decide on a layout.”
“I don’t have enough tools.”
“I don’t know how to use tools well enough or have the experience to do a quality job myself.”
“I don’t have enough budget to pay a professional fit out company to fit out my van.”
“I don’t have time to do all the work.”
“I’m not happy with how mine turned out from my lack of skill and lack of time.”
So… after hearing struggle after struggle, we knew what we had to do. We knew we had a special opportunity to help people transform their lives in a healthy and positive way. We began with building the right team around us that amounted to over 35-years in trade experience and could see the vision, and we began mapping out functional layouts to suit almost any van on the road, combined with high quality materials to deliver everyday people like you and us the most streamlined, simple, functional and time and cost effective solution to getting out there exploring our beautiful country in no time at all, while not breaking the budget. What took our co-founder Dan over a month of chipping away to finish the OG prototype can now be achieved in a weekend or less.

whilst we don’t do complete custom kits, we have the ability to make adjustments to our standard kits, such as, adding or removing drawers, and increasing or reducing dimensions to suit your needs.

Combine this with our high quality and super durable hinges and sliders and there’s nothing left to stop you except some elbow grease.
Lastly, but certainly not least, we dig how busy life can get, with work, family, bills, staying fit and healthy plus all the other things adulting demands (and that’s without the time we spend with friends and doing the hobbies we love). So, we flat packed the whole kit and deliver it to your door to almost anywhere in Australia, complete with easy to follow instructions. All you need is a cordless drill, a tape measure, a pencil/pen and your favourite playlist.
